Innovation is simple, but not easy If you are studying an innovation, then it already exists, which means you are looking into the past. This is interesting, and we can certainly learn much from this effort.  But by its nature the next innovation lies in the future, it is unseen and unknown today.

As many will know I have had the pleaseure of lecturing on Creativity & Innovation as part of Swinburne University's Master of Entrepreneurship & Innovation program since 2000, initiallyin Israel and in the last six years in Melbourne as well.  As the end of the year approaches it is a always a time for reflection on what has been accomplished and the message from Alex Maritz below was a great one to receive.

The halfway mark for European Year of Creativity and Innovation is nearly here and it is hard to see what has been achieved. Does setting aside a period of time really promote creativity??

Events such as EYCI 2009 and Australian Innovation Festival need to do much more than come up with new definitions and list events on their websites.

EYCI 2009 definition = "Creativity is a driver for innovation and a key factor for the development of personal, occupational, entrepreneurial and social competences and the well-being of all individuals in society."
